BR67.41: Mounted Patrician
DrawingsA man sits atop a horse. The man is lavishly dressed in a feathered hat, ruff collar, voluminous shirt and trousers, and stockings. He holds reins in his hands and looks back and to his left. The horse wears a headpiece with two vertical puffs of feathers, a bridle with decorative medallion-shaped ornaments, fringed reins, and an ornate cover over its rump that includes swirls, tassels, and a decoration shaped like a lion’s head. The horse’s eyes peer up toward the viewer. Textural details, including the horse’s muscles and the folds in the man’s clothing, are dramatic and densely shaded.
