The black and white photograph shows a person wearing a gray fedora hat with a black band. The photograph is taken from above so only the hat, a portion of the collar of a light-colored jacket and the right arm is visible. The right arm has a watch on the wrist, the arm is raised, a marker is held in the hand. The marker is to the right of the name “Joseph Beuys” which is inscribed on an off-white background. There is other writing on the background, but it is illegible.
