The horseman sits straight up with both hands clasped on the saddle gazing into the distance, perhaps in expectation of game, while the small cheetah glances in the other direction. The silver flecks that have now tarnished to dull black in the paper obscure somewhat the fine details of the drawing, especially the subtle face of the man. Publication History Stuart Cary Welch and Kim Masteller, From Mind, Heart, and Hand: Persian, Turkish, and Indian Drawings from the Stuart Cary Welch Collection, exh. cat., Yale University Press (New Haven, 2004), p. 33, fig. 27 (detail); pp. 65-67, no. 12 Exhibition History From Mind, Heart, and Hand: Persian, Turkish, and Indian Drawings from SCWelch, Harvard University Art Museums, Fogg Art Museum, Cambridge, 03/19/2005 - 06/02/2005 Verification Level This record has been reviewed by the curatorial staff but may be incomplete.
