1916.490: Rectangular Silk Fragment Depicting a Portion of a Five-Clawed Dragon amid Clouds and Auspicious Symbols
Textile ArtsThis medium-blue woven silk tapestry fragment is decorated with clouds and flowers. The clouds are long, swirling shapes woven in various shades of blue. Interspersed among the clouds are large white blossoms with green leaves. One flower appears to grow out of a white object resembling a vase or pot. Long, curving blue leaf-like appendages extend from the white pot. In the upper left corner, we see the clawed foot and golden scales of a dragon.
