Descriptions Description Tapestry woven rug in bright colours, depicting a Madonna wearing a decorative cope/cloak with jewelled border with sacred heart pierced by seven lines (Sorrows?); being crowned by two winged angels. Christ, grey with death, is draped over her knees under a columned archway with two gamaganglia in corners; dark blue ground with borders top and bottom of stylized flowering vine and tears; linen warp and wool weft; linen self fringe (c. 5 inches wide); black cotton twill hanging sleeve at top for a pole (fringe is folded) Verification Level This record has been reviewed by the curatorial staff but may be incomplete.
