Descriptions
- Description
- Simple narrow tapestry woven band with red wool and undyed linen wefts. The linen wefts create the buff design along the spine of the red band. A change in pattern occurs near one end of the red band. The band narrows at the other end to only a few rows of red wool; if the band functioned as a clavus on a tunic, this section may have connected to a now lost circular or arrow-shaped pendant. Plain woven undyed linen ground survives above and below the area of tapestry weave.
