240 Handle, Partly Reworked
Creamy gray-green and green jade handle, similar to No. 239 except for the tectiform top. On each side appears an incised bird figure with an elongated tail. The bird faces the lower end, where the jagged outline forms the silhouette of its beak and breast. The design of the tail is left in a sketchy state; apparently the lapidary abandoned his work before it was completed. Western Chou.
