258 Crested Bird with Long Tail
Well-polished, opaque buff jade plaque, representing the silhouette of a bird with a hammer-shaped beak and a long tail, the tip of which is broken off. Both the wings and crest begins with a volute. A pair of concentric curves is incised at the crest. Two pairs of slanting striae mark the top tier of the tail. A striated “fin” is juxtaposed to the bird’s leg. Same design on the back. Small perforation at the breast. Western Chou.
