Catalogue entry no. 394 by Max Loehr:
394 Disk with Pattern of Plastic Curls
While similar to the disks described under No. 385 and following numbers, the present type differs in two respects: (1) the curls are in low relief, and (2) the engraved spirals issuing from them are slightly wider than on the other disks. Moreover, the margin at the outer perimeter is almost flat. A slight touch of irregularity in the patter suggests a technically less exacting standard than does No. 393. Strongly translucent, light greenish gray jade with brown and rust-colored markings and dark brown matrix at the periphery. Late Eastern Chou.
