Catalogue entry no. 628 by Max Loehr:

628 Bird Monster
Translucent, light gray-green jade with whitish and fawn-colored streaks. The curved figure of a bird, identically engraved on both sides, is topped by a pair of curved ko blades. The bird’s wings, drooping crest, and tail are clearly discernible; its face and claws are not. The engraved design, executed in slanting cuts, exhibits, moreover, a rudeness that is irreconcilable with Shang or Western Chou carving. Apparently this piece was made in imitation of a specimen formerly in the possession of C. T. Loo, and may be as recent as the 1920’s.
