Catalogue entry no. 515 by Max Loehr:
515 Arched Object Carved in Openwork
Translucent whitish and nearly opaque mottled brown jade, with a highly polished, glossy surface. Apparently derived from an oval ring, the arch consists of three distinct elements. The middle part, much thicker than the rest, shows a floral motif within a rectangular frame with rounded-off corners and with a tiny feline mask at its slanting top. Above the middle part sits the profile figure of a bird-like dragon. Below the bulging, rounded extension of the middle part hangs a small reptilian creature whose body forms a sharply pointed hook. Details are incised on both sides, but more elaborately on the convex face. Late Eastern Chou.
