1991.559: Lotus-Bud-Shaped Ewer with Lotus Decor
VesselsA ball-shaped pitcher expands outward from a flat circular base, then tapers to a narrow flat top, with a small circular opening. An upward curving handle is attached at one side, and on the opposite side a slender spout rises from the middle. It is glazed in a pale green-gray, and decorated with a carved, curvilinear design across the entire surface, featuring a flowering lotus at the center. Three smaller lotus buds above the flower echo the shape of the pitcher itself, and both the flower and the buds are highlighted with splashes of white.
