Description
Large globular jar with broad shoulders, sides tapering inward to a flat base, and two lug handles on the shoulders with plaited decoration; light gray stoneware with stamped and impressed geometric decoration.
Commentary
Compare to:
Jar of similar form with closely related stamped decor and with similar animal-head handles attributed to the Warring States period in the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco collection (accession no. B63P23+). See He Li, Chinese Ceramics: The New Standard Guide (London: Thames and Hudson, 1996), no. 36, pp. 66-67 and 109.
