Descriptions Description Ovoid jar with everted lip, broad shoulders, and sides tapering inward to a flat circular base; light gray stoneware with dark brown glaze embellished with variegated light blue splashes on top of the glaze; glaze stops short of the foot; base unglazed. Dark glazed wares with these distinctive blue flourishes were made at the Duandian kilns, Lushan county, and the Huangdao kilns in Jia county, both in the vicinity of Baofeng, Henan province and are considered precursors to copper-splashed Jun wares from Henan province. Commentary Compare to: Blue-splashed brown-glazed jar of slightly different form excavated in 1987 from a tomb dated 810 at Hengshan village, Yuzhou, Henan province, now in the Henan Museum.
