Descriptions Description Covered cylindrical jar with three small triangular tabs descending from a flat rim, the conical cover with conical-dish shaped knob; thinly potted gray earthenware with abstract decoration cold-painted in red pigment. Dawenkou culture. From the middle and lower Yellow River valley regions; Shandong, northern Jiangsu, northern Anhui, and eastern Henan provinces. Commentary Compare to: (1) Earthenware jar of very similar form with similar knobbed cover excavated in 1959 at Dawenkou, Tai’an, Shandong province.
