2005.267: The Dancing Girl
PrintsA woman stands facing the viewer with her right arm raised out to the side. She holds out the edge of her garment, a long, voluminous, sheer gown with elbow-length sleeves. Her body is clearly visible underneath. Her head faces right toward her hand. She wears a bonnet on her head with a tie at the back. The linework in this print is light and soft, giving a diffused effect to the woman’s form. Whistler’s signature appears to the left of the woman.
