1923.181: Rushing Torrents and Dangerous Road
PaintingsThis very tall, narrow hanging scroll is a gray-beige color. It is painted with a landscape scene in dark ink. A craggy mountainside dominates the upper half of the scroll, its height underscored by the narrow format. It is dotted with trees. A few travelers walk a thin path that winds up the mountainside. On the ground below is a forest with boulders and many kinds of trees. A river flows between the right side of the foreground and the mountain behind. The river’s shape echoes the curves of the mountain path.
