2005.155: Legs of Crucified Christ, after "Crucifixion" by Andrea Mantegna; verso: Horse from the Parthenon Frieze
DrawingsFine graphite lines and shading depict at upper right, the waist and legs of a man in a loincloth. Seen facing front, the left foot is stretched over the right foot. Faintly visible below at center left, sketched lines suggest a robed figure with a bowed head. The image on the reverse of this page is a partial study of a standing horse, in profile facing left. The horse is mid-stride with its left hind foot lifted. The front lower legs are left incomplete, as is the head, which appears from the neck angle to be turned facing back.
