Descriptions

Description
Collage of printed papers, gouache, pencil, ink and transfer (?) drawing over watercolor. For conceptual reasons, Herrera makes it difficult to discern what is found imagery and what is drawn by the artist; where one patch of paper ends and another begins; and what materials, precisely, he has used. A large swatch of pre-painted mustard-colored paper floats over an abstract image painted by the artist. All other collaged fragments are carefully adhered to the surface and outlined in such a way that it becomes virtually impossible to sort out the layers, which makes the tenuous attachment of the larger, colored rectangular patch appear intentional.
