A man and woman in Eighteenth century style dress promenading

Light, olive-colored lines and hastily scribbled shading describe two figures at a ball. At left, a woman whose face is lit from below, faces forward and holds her hand up in front of her allowing her partner to hold it. She wears a short-brimmed hat and a voluminous long-sleeved gown with a high collar. She extends her right foot, which is covered to the ankle by her gown. Her partner, dressed in a long tailcoat, ruffled shirt and breeches also steps forward, his free hand at his hip. Behind them, a guard in a tailcoat looks on.
