The crowd is looking at an older man (Peter) whose arms are raised, palms out, to chest level, open mouth, with a dazed look on his face. Smoke from the fire floats up around Peter. One soldier in the center stands in front of the fire, his back to us in shadow. A woman to his left is across from Peter and holds her pointed finger up to her face. In the top third background a group of soldiers with spears and a torch rapidly descend the stairs, framed within an arch.
