314 Cicada
Magnificent sculpture in the round, fashioned of a convexly curved, thick piece of evenly light green, and highly translucent jade. Seen from above, the outline is rectangular. They eyes are very prominent. A transverse band with raised borders separates the head from the body and wings; the wings are marked by apparently worn-down and only faintly recognizable incisions. The underside is plain. A large hole is drilled through the length of the piece; along each of the two longitudinal edges are two small perforations drilled from the bottom and the sides. Western Chou.
