Opening Celebration

Special Event

Harvard University
32 Quincy Street, Cambridge, MA

Please note: The Opening Celebration is at capacity, but we invite you to join us in the afternoon or evening during our opening day. Reserve tickets here.

Join us as we celebrate the public opening of the new Harvard Art Museums—three extraordinary museums united under one glass roof.

Doors open at 10am, and the opening celebration begins promptly at 10:30am. The celebration will feature a welcoming ceremony, remarks from Director Thomas W. Lentz and Harvard University Provost Alan M. Garber, and live performances in the Calderwood Courtyard. Visitors are then welcome to explore the galleries and meet our staff until noon.

The new galleries include masterpieces from the collections of the Fogg, Busch-Reisinger, and Arthur M. Sackler Museums, with works of art from the ancient world to the present, including paintings, sculpture, ceramics, drawings, and photographs from the Americas, Europe, North Africa, the Mediterranean, and Asia.

The inaugural special exhibition, Mark Rothko’s Harvard Murals, also opens this day.

This event is free and open to the public; timed-ticket reservations are required for admission. Space is limited; there is a two-ticket limit per reservation.

In celebration of our opening day, the museums will be open until 10pm. For more information about visiting us in the afternoon and evening, please visit our Opening Day event listing.

Please note: Entrances to the Harvard Art Museums are located on both Quincy and Prescott Streets.
