1988.2: Ichikawa Danjūrō IX as Musashibō Benkei in The Subscription List (Kanjinchō)
PrintsThree separate panels create an image of a warrior-monk dressed in Japanese robes. He moves to the right as his body is turned in three quarter view towards us. Colorful circular designs are seen on his right sleeve, under a black robe with gold Japanese calligraphy. His right hand clutches a rolled scroll form, outstretched from his side on the far left, against a dark blue background. The artist seal and signature in lower left, one vertical line calligraphy is near middle of left panel, and four vertical lines drawn over abstract wave shape on upper right.
